Butler and Bassett

On a block of ice, about ten feet long, five feet wide and raised six inches. Miss Butler and Mr. Bassett are doing all possible tricks on skates which seemingly may he accomplished in that limited space.

For the first two subjects, Mr. Gillam has selected an “Old Salt” and “Fresh Salt” (sailor and boy). Using some sort of pencil, he draws upon the surface of the paper, without the marks showing. Rapidly lining out the heads, he thereafter spreads over the surface a handful of a black substance which, when rubbed off, leaves the heads in darkened outline.
