Musical Toreadors

The act was ten minutes long. A man and a woman are dressed in Spanish costume and play coach horns, trombones, and coronets. They finish with a number in which they play automobile horns on the musical scale.

Cathrine Robertson

the act was eleven minutes long. Robertson opens with a coon song with “double syncopated accompaniment.” She then does a comedy song interwoven with a “souse” monolog and a shop-girl monolog. She finishes with “Society Bear.”

Washington Band

The act was twenty-three minutes long on the full stage. Three men dressed as gondoliers play the violin, mandolin, and guitar in front of a Venetian backdrop. A woman follows them onstage and sings Italian opera numbers. A gondola glides across the stage as she sings. A curtain is raised to reveal a twelve piece brass band in colonial costumes, white wigs and no makeup. They march around and play one number before a conductor emerges to lead them. They finish with a tableau of “The Spirit of ’76”.

Mayer and Froma

The act was nine minutes long. The girl begins a song and is interrupted by hammering backstage. She pulls out her partner, who acts as a stage carpenter and they do some crossfire talk. She makes him sing by threatening that the stage hands will get even with him if he doesn’t. They finish with a “goblin” song.

Carroll and Kathryn McFarland

The act was thirteen minutes long. A man and a woman dress as college students and open with a song and dance. They then do some comedic talk dressed in an evening gown and white flannels. He changes costume into a “Rube” constable and she changes into a bucolic old maid. They do gags and talk that belong to other acts.

Gardner Family

The act was fourteen minutes long. A young man and woman pose under a spotlight to the lyrics of a song sung by a woman offstage. The man then begins to sing the melody. The female singer appears with another man and they sing a ballad and dance. The girl who did the posing returns in kid makeup accompanied by her partner who is dressed as a dog for comedy purposes.

Morris and Clark

The act was fourteen minutes long. Morris and Clark are a male and female team. The man works in blackface and the woman performs in brown. He plays the comedian and she is the straight. He does a loose and eccentric dance and she sings a rag song.

Mae Stock Trio

The act was nine minutes long on the full stage. Two young women and one man have a routine of club juggling. The man dances a clog as he does some single juggling. They are all dressed neatly.

Musical Bells

The act was thirteen minutes long on the full stage. A woman plays the straight to a man who performs in Dutch dialect. They open with some conversation and then the man plays the concertina and the piano. The woman sings a comedy song and they finish with a duet on the bells.
