Hal Stephens & Co.

Presenting the comedy entitled ‘Silas Slawson’s Dream, or A Modern Rip Van Winkle.’ A little afraid of their act on account of previous criticism. To surprise he made a tremendous hit, in fact he was the applause hit of the show up to this time. Quite a scenic effect making five changes. A little novelty with plenty of good comedy. 22 minutes full stage.

Countess Rossie & Paulo

Rather surprised at the manner of this act was received.  The Countess makes an elegant appearance and is gifted with an excellent voice.  Paulo’s assistance in the box got the laughs.  Quite a novel act.  Big applause in the finish.  15 min full stage.

‘Our Boys in Blue’

Excellent closing act. Contains many interesting features. Work with the Gatling gun, sinking if the gun-boat, special electric effects & etc., made the jury sit up. The greatest act of its kind we ever had. Continual applause throughout. A great novelty. Sixteen minutes, full stage.

Edwin Arden & Co.

Presenting the play ‘Captain Velvet’ scene is laid in Lower California near the Mexican border, carries his own scenery, which received some applause on the opening. The company consists of Miss Keith Wakeman, George Ralston and George Halt, all capable players. The play is intensely dramatic and held the audience throughout. The finish is rather novel and sensational. Tremendous applause. With several curtain calls. Twenty-six minutes, full stage.

Robinson, Parquette Trio

Just about passed by, Grotesque one of the trio falls short as a comedian. Straight tenor singer has an elegant voice and carries the biggest part of the act. Barbaric finish just allows them to go quietly to their rooms. An applicant for the mosquito circuit. 10 min, in one.

The Zamnettos

Three men made up as Japs Juggling balls, knives, fire brands ect.  Rapid workers.  Secured quite a number of laughs by the apple catching on the style of the Pelots.  Finished strong. 13 min.  full stage.

Paul Conchas

An excellent closing feature. Conchas certainly does some remarkable work and pleases his audience from the start. The general routine remains about the same as when here before. The comedy of the man is greatly improved and scored many laughs. Spontaneous applause from all parts of the house. The best closing act we ever had. 24 min, F stage.

Gus Edwards’ School Boys & Girls

The last time we played this act he had seven girls and six boys and the price was $125 less. Today the act is presented with 5 girls and 4 boys at $125 more. Next season we will get the same [sic] of Gus Edwards only, with any boys & girls. At the Matiness the house was filled with the usual musical [sic] publishers pluggers and every number was encored, even ‘School Days.’ 26 min.

Mr. & Mrs. Sydney Drew & Co.

Presenting the comedy ‘Billy’s Tombstones.’ We will have to endorse the general opinion that this one of the best comedies ever seen in vaudeville. It was one continual laugh from beginning to end. An excellent vehicle. 25 min. in full stage.

Murray Sisters

Two rather good looking young ladies, who present a very neat singing act. Both have good voices and are nicely gowned. The comedy selection of the contralto went very big. Very pleasing act. 16 min.
