In “Jimmie’s Experiment”. Four people. Miss Bergere’s new sketch does not give her the opportunity for strong dramatic work that “Billee’s First Love” did. It is more designed to hit general vaudeville audiences. She has the part of an up-to-date athletic girl, vivacious, independent and slangy. She changes from fencing costume to evening gown after a fencing match with her lover, Jimmie. His experiment by disguising himself as a burglar to have her seek a man’s protection is successful and is worked out with brisk action including an effective horse race speech and a melodramatic climax. The lines are up-to-date and Miss Bergere is finished and magnetic. Her support is good and she can make the sketch a success. 25 minutes, full stage.
