While Taylor gets the billing, a partner who acts as a plant gets the majority of the attention and applause with the solo he renders in the orchestra pit. When Taylor says he will do a song the way Eddie Foy would, the plant interrupts. The plant then sings his own hit before coming on stage to sing two parodies with Taylor, on "Winter" and "Alexander."
Taylor lacks some valuable stage assets, among them personality. He owes Cliff Gordon nearly everything for his act. His opening, an imitation of Gordon, has Taylor ding almost half of his monologue.
