Closing the first half Steger held the attention
of his audience completely, and at
his well-devised climax won rounds and
rounds of applause—indeed, enough to justify
even the supporting company in taking
a bow or two.
There is no getting away from the
fact that "The Fifth Commandment"
works an immense influence upon a
vaudeville audience. Its sentiment is well
calculated to awaken emotion without
becoming maudlin, and throughout the
presentation is adequate and convincing.
