30 min, fancy in three, close in one. It would hardly be fair to criticize this man’s work by the impression he made on this afternoon’s audience at 4:45. He was heavily billed – and many waited to see him, but it was so late that many walked out during his act. He could never follow Gilbert in this house in a thousand years. Stevens is undoubtedly an artist – in his way – and will draw money because of the advertising we gave him. However, he should never have been billed the same as Gilbert.
