Colored singing and dancing comedians. This is the ‘Murphy’ of formerly ‘Murphy & Slater’ who has now a women working with him and I believe the act is an improvement over the old act. The man is certainly a clever and unctuous comedian and a very eccentric dancer. They went very strongly indeed. 15 min in one, 3 shows.
Acrobatic comedians and barrel jumping, The acrobatic work of this man is very acceptable, their comedy however is forced and grows tiresome and I am having them omit some of it and hope to improve the act thereby. As a three a day act should be classed as good. 14 min, full stage, 2 shows.
Comedian and mimic who sings a couple of topical songs and some funny stories and imitations. Is all right also in an early portion of the bill and from a three a day standpoint may be classed as fairly good. 14 min in one, 3 shows.
Russian dancers. I don’t think much of this act myself but it went pretty well with the audiences today and is no doubt all right to open the show. 9 min, full stage, 3 shows.
This is a very novel act in which the performers impersonate toys which awaken and go through some clever acrobatic work. The two men do all the work and the woman simply looks pretty and helps fill up the stage. It lends a little atmosphere to the performance. 12 min, full stage, 2 shows. Carry their own scenery.
The ‘Sal Skinner Girl.’ She does a very clever act after the order of ‘Sis Hopkins’ and went first rate although not strong enough really for the place I am giving her on the bill. I make the sacrifice however for the benefit of the show in its entirety which balances up better by placing her here. 10 min, in one, 3 shows.
Singing, dancing and banjo playing. This is a very clever little act the feature of which is the man’s dancing and playing the banjo at the same time. Clever three a day act. Valuable because it is entirely in one, and could stand a little lower in the bill. 15 min, in one, 3 shows.
Lady bag-puncher and man, tramp bicyclist. The comedy of this act is rather tame but the woman is very attractive and is quite skillful as a bag-puncher and the man does some pretty good trick bicycle riding. Good opening three a day act. 14 min, full stage, 3 shows.
In their familiar act ‘Quo Vadis Upside Down.’ While the act is unquestionably very funny it has become very stale, and does not go as strong as formerly. I shall have to cut them out until they give us something new. 18 min, open in one, close full stage, 2 shows.
Impersonations of well known Actresses and Actors given costume. Biograph pictures of him making changes in the dressing room being shown while he is changing costumes. As he is a little fellow and attractive together with the novelty of the Biograph pictures the act goes first rate especially with the ladies but to my mind it does not contain a great deal of actual merit. I would not care for it again for a while any way. 21 min, in one, 2 shows.
