Italian Trio

14 minutes in one. 2 shows. While this act was supposed to do three shows they have a contract for two and refused to do the third one. However, their work is apparently hard and as they are going big with us I did not insist that they do the third.

Eva Mudge

14 minutes, full stage. Carries her own drops. Military maid in quick character changes. This is a neat act and something of a novelty. While Miss Mudge’s voice is not very strong, she is going very well.

Frederick Bros. & Burns

18 minutes, close 4 minutes in one. Parlor interior. Comedy musical act. The comedy portion of this act is painful. While the music is fairly good, the act taken as a whole is not a good one and we would not care to play it a return.

Geo. Evans

20 minutes in one. Mr. Evans is going very big here, fully as good as any act we have played during the past two seasons. He is to us the best singing monologue in the business. The people do not remember him and his reception is very light, but he goes big during his entire act.

Jessie Millward

assisted by Francis Carlyle. 32 minutes. Interior in three. This is a very serious sketch, well acted by both Miss Millward and Mr. Carlyle. It is without a doubt one of the best sketches that we have played. It is going very well with our patrons and I feel sure Miss Millward’s act appeals especially to high class people and is bringing new business to the house.

Carlin & Otto

16 minutes in one. Singing and dancing German comedians. They are going very big with us, fully as well as during their first engagement. We consider them the best act of the kind in vaudeville.

Collins & Hart

15 minutes, full stage, wood. Comedy acrobats. This act is going very well with us. It is an act similar to Blocksum & Burns whom we played two weeks ago. I consider this a better act than Blocksum & Burns.

Mabel McKinley

13 minutes, full stage. Miss McKinley is singing about as well as ever but I do not feel that she draws a great deal of money now as this is her third appearance here and I think she is about through in Pittsburgh so far as increasing the business is concerned.

Matthews & Ashley

17 minutes in one. This act is away from the usual run of acts. They introduce the Jew and the dope fiend. Their parodies are very good and go very well with our audience.

Mansfield-Wilbur Co

23 minutes in their own set, full stage. We have been trying to figure why this act should get $500. There is absolutely no need for their carrying their own scenery and we think it nothing more than a bluff to increase their salary. We consider the sketch a very bad one, the acting fully as bad and if it was not for the finish which, by the way, is far from being great, we would have been compelled to close the act. I have seen the act three times and each time I see it I feel sure they are getting money under false pretence.
