The Three Romainers

European acrobatic act. This is only a fair act. There’s nothing in it that’s out of the ordinary. Two men and a woman. One of them has a ladder on his shoulders, then a smaller ladder is stretched across the center of the other one. The boy and girl do a few stunts on it that about makes it good for an opening act. 8 minutes full stage.

Kelly and Reno

Comedy acrobats. This is not a good act by any means; a very poor imitation of Rice & Prevost. Besides that, some parts of it are vulgar, and not fir [sic] for a first-class audience. They belong in the burlesque houses. Time, 13 minutes full stage.

McWatter, Tyson & Co.

In an act called ‘Scenes in A Drawing Room.’ Where they get this title from, I don’t know. They open their act in a drawing room for about 3 minutes. After that they go every place, and do everything. It’s a hodge-podge of good and bad stuff. Act doesn’t go very well here. McWatters spent a lot of time and money in trying to get a novelty act. Some things in it are very good. Others are not. Miss Tyson’s imitations are just not the proper thing. Time 22 minutes full stage.

Peter F. Daily

And his 8 Lulu Girls in a sketch entitled, ‘THE POLICE INSPECTOR.’ There is nothing to this act of any description that I can see. The songs are poor, and about the worst I’ve ever heard. He really hasn’t one good song in the whole lot. The girls are nicely dressed, and at the finish of the act do 3 songs with some dances. I believe that if Mr. Daily would get some new songs his act would go twice as well. There’s no doubt but what he draws some money, and the act could be made a good one. I’m going to make some suggestions to him before the week is out. Time 25 minutes full stage.

Green & Weener

In their specialty called, ‘BABES OF THE JUNGLE.’ This act opens up in one with singing and dancing. They then go to full stage and makeup as Zulus. The scenery if very fine, and the act is quite a novelty, and away from all others. Consists entirely of singing and dancing. Time 15 minutes.

Radium Dance

This act consists of eight girls, and is hardly strong enough for a headliner. It is a novelty in its way, and the house must be kept absolutely dark to get any benefit from it. The act opens with some singing and dancing. Several of the girls make two changes in costume. The act was rather a disappointment to everybody. However, it’s not a bad act by any means, and if the act hadn’t been head-lined, it would have gone through all right. Time 10 minutes full stage.

Yorke & Adams

Hebrew comedians. These people have been over the circuit so much that everybody is familiar with them. Their stuff that they are using did not go at all Monday matinee and evening, so I had them change it and use as much of their old act as they could. At both performances yesterday they went very bad. Time 20 minutes in one.

Sugimoto Royal Japanese Troupe

This is without doubt the best of all the Jap acts I’ve ever played. It is an act bounding in contortion, dexterity and strength. They do more sensational stuff than any act I’ve ever seen. One a little boy in it, particularly, is the greatest ever. It is an act that at present will create more talk than any acrobatic act in vaudeville. Time 20 minutes full stage.

A.O. Duncan

Ventriloquist. This man’s got a lot of good, bright stuff and is going as good as any of the ventriloquists I’ve played. He keeps his talking up-to-date, and seems to localize it wherever he goes, which, of course, always makes a big hit. He’s doing 18 minute, with 4 minutes in one.

Harry Rochne and his Dogs and Ponies

3 ponies and 6 dogs. First time this act has ever played Cleveland, and inasmuch as we’ve had so many animal acts here, it’s going to be hard for him to make good. The act is all right, and I like it much better than lots of the other animal acts we’ve had. Time 15 minutes full stage.
