Jean Marcell’s Picture

Some of the pictures are very good. Others are not so good He has two old ones. One called ‘Angelus’ and the other ‘Morning of Life,’ which on his last visit here was called ‘Spring.’ His picture called ‘Holland Interior’ and ‘Achille’ [sic] are the best of the new ones. In his picture ‘The Volunteers’ and the ‘Call to Arms’ I believe his coloring is bad. I don’t think that these series of pictures, as a whole, are so great. He’s got to do better than that, if he wants to make a success of them. Time 17 minutes stage.

Daisy Dimond

In songs. This woman is just going fair. She is singing one of the songs sung here by Nora Bayes. Miss Bayes made a big hit with it, and this woman didn’t. Her other selection are too draggy, there’s nothing to them. If she had other songs, I think she would go considerably better. However, this act is above the average. Time 12 minutes in one.

Marvelous Frank and Little Bob

Comedy acrobatic act. A very good act. Marvelous Frank does some very good stunts on the horizontal bar, and Little Bob and his acrobatic dog ‘Tip’ made a big hit. Their finish on one, which runs about 7 minutes, is one of the best part of their act. They went very strong. Time 17 minutes full stage.

Metcalf & Paddock

Musical act. These are local boys. They have some very fine instruments, and rather expect before the week is out it will work into a first-class act. They had a bad case of stage fright yesterday. The act runs about 17 minutes with 4 minutes in one, if necessary.

Howard & North

In an act called, ‘Happy Days.’ This is an extraordinarily good act, in fact one of the best of all the talking acts in one. They carry a special drop representing the entrance of a vaudeville theatre. It’s away from all the other talking acts, and it going big. Time 26 minutes in one.

Woodland Nymphs

The only bad thing about this act is their synopsis. The musical numbers are good, the dancing is good, and the scenery is also fair. Taking it all in all, it’s the best bunch of singing and dancing girls I’ve seen in a long while. The act is short, and only runs about 10 minutes, full stage.

O’Hana San’s Japanese Living Pictures

Why these are called Japanese, I don’t know. Any other name would suit better. To start with, the act isn’t fit for a first-class theatre. It belongs in a burlesque house. She carries two electricians, and then wants a property man to help her in the poses. It’s the worst piece of getting-money-under-false-pretenses I ever saw. Time 10 minutes full stage.

Howard’s Ponies & Dogs

His act is quite a little improved from what it was in the early part of the season. He carries his own scenery and has his wife in the act. He is using practically the same animals what he’s had before. It’s a good act for ladies and children, and is going well. Time 18 minutes, full stage.

Mr. Henry Miller & Co.

On Clyde Fitch’s playlet ‘Frederic Lemaitre.’ This is without doubt the best acted playlet that has ever been in vaudeville. It contains a little comedy and lots of pathos, and made a tremendous hit here. I cannot say enough in priase [sic] of this little production. It runs 30 minutes full stage. Mr. Miller will no doubt draw a lot of money.

Delphino & Delmora

European Grotesque Musicians. This is just a fair act, and about strong enough to open a show with. Their playing on a few instruments is not much good. There is a little comedy in the act of the European order. Opens in full stage 11 minutes, closes 3 minutes in one.
