Supposed to be called a comedy acrobatic act. Acrobatic stuff pretty good of its kind. Nothing startling or unusual. The comedy part is not much good. Runs about 18 min. with about 4 min. in one.
Offering his well known impersonations of famous actresses and characters. Received advance applause on his entrance and seemed to go better with the afternoon audience than I have ever known him to go before. However, he stretched the act out a little too long and the audience seemed to get tired toward the end. CDF in 3, close in 1. 23 minutes.
Miss Von Wenzl did not make much of an impression on the audience today. She is quite good looking and has good stage presence, but her songs did not seem to impress the audience. Received little applause. Personally, I think the act a good one. Drapery in1. 7 minutes.
Well known talking act. I believe they were members of the Philadelphia house stock company. Their act went very well here and the Clevelanders seem to catch their repartee and enjoy it. Their dialogue brought forth all most continuous laughter. Good act for this house. 16 minutes.
Original musical monologue. She could well eliminate her opening speech. Woman is quite clever and her offering is quite dainty and artistic. It pleased in spots. She closes in 1 with a song, ‘She Walks Like This.,’ sung last year by Julian Eltinge. Good act. CDF in 2 ½, close in 1. 10 minutes.
Should be “Dan McAvoy and his 3rd Avenue Girls”. The act is called “A Crazy Conglomeration” which is well named. Poor act and not suitable for the Keith houses. Opens full stage and runs about 25 minutes. Can close in one with a lot of stuff that is rotten.
In sketch ‘The Yellow Dragon.’ Well known on the circuit. First time in this house and was well received. However, we have a thoroughly good, swiftly running show ahead of the sketch and it is not a feature of the show by any means. Good act. Drew’s name may draw some money. While the act held the interest of the audience throughout, it did not close to any great amount of applause. CDF in 4. 20 minutes.
Comedienne. This is the only act in one that I have in the entire bill. This place is too strong for her, but there is no help for it. She closed much stronger than she opened. I am going to cut the act some and change it about for the night show. She placed a small boy in a balcony box to sing to her and closed with a little soubrette work. Very good, for an earlier place. 15 minutes in one.
Received liberal advance applause. Gave imitations of Ada Rehan, Edna May, Harry Bulger, Miss Josephine Sabel, Miss Ethel Barrymore, Miss Marble Harrison, Madam Sarah Bernhardt. Every imitation was applauded. The audience apparently understood them all. I did not. Miss Loftus received four curtain calls at close. CDF in 2 1/2. Close in one. 14 minutes.
I had to shift Sato to this place on the bill instead of Kokin for he would not work in one. Mr. Hodgson wrote me that the whole act was in one, but Sato demanded C.D.F. in three and, as this necessitated a wait of two minutes or more, I put the wait in here, Sato does nothing new although he is very clever with the old stuff. Received few laughs and very little applause. 12 minutes, CDF in three, close in one.
