Three men in artistic posses [sic]. Human statues in marble poses. This is without exception a very good act and went very well the audience this afternoon. Their last called ‘At the Finish’ is one of the best things I have ever seen and received three curtain calls.
Grotesque musical novelty act introducing several novelty instruments and finishing with the musical bell act laying on their back and playing it with their feet. Comedy only fair with this act. Fair applause at the finish. 15 minutes. Palace in 5.
The greatest Equestrienne in the world. We had some trouble in locating the car which contained Miss Renz baggage, and did not get to the theatre until after three o’clock. We managed to get her mats on so she could go through her performance with the exception of doing the skirt dance on the horse, as we could not put extra lights on during the performance. This is one of the best horse acts we have ever had. Considering that it closed the bill it went unusually well and received very heavy applause at the finish. She carries two beautiful white horses, they were very well groomed and worked very well this afternoon. The act runs 14 minutes. This afternoon it ran 11 minutes without the skirt dance. Special black panorama drop F.S.
“The Magpie and the Jay.” One act rural comedy drama. This is one of the best things of its kind we have ever had. Miss Hall as Liz, the magpie from the bowery, has the best line of bowery talk I have ever heard and the audience seemed to grasp every point. This act should make good anywhere in any spot on the bill. Three people. Two women and one man. F.S. 22 minutes. Received three curtain calls at close.
“Real Coon Habits.” This is one of the best coon acts we have had here for some time. Singing, talking and dancing. The dancing of the male member of the team is unusually good and he makes some of the best falls I have ever seen. Received three curtain calls at the finish. 18 minutes in one.
Aerial gymnasts. The act is very similar to the act of the Aerial Smiths but lacks the speed of this act. The man works very smoothly but the woman of the team seemed rather fleshy to do this kind of work. Applause very light. Full stage. 10 minutes.
Presenting their well known transformation scene. It has played here a number of times as it has every house on the circuit. Nothing has been changed. We had them in a very stiff spot and I do not know how the papers will look at it. I would not want to play them again next season for I can not afford this much money for 8 minutes entertainment. Received very little applause. Special set, full stage. 8 minutes.
English prima donna soprano. Well known on the circuit. Played here last year. She accries [sic] her husband with her now and he leads the orchestra. Went as well as acts of this kind go, and while not a terrific hit, she managed to gain some applause. Was in better voice than I have ever seen her before. Drop in one. 12 minutes.
Three men, two working straight, one as a comedian. Straight men do head and hand balancing, the comedian does contortion work. Many of their stunts were applauded. A good act for an opener, probably the best we have had in several weeks. Palace in 5. 7 minutes.
Assisted by two people presenting a new version of the old act entitled “The New Coachman.” The scene this year is laid in a college boy’s room in a hotel. While there is no doubt that the act created a great deal of laughter, I think it is a little bit rough for our orchestra patrons. In knocking the dinner off the table Mr. Simon succeeded in wetting nearly everyone in the first row of the orchestra seats. Food, sawdust, rice, etc., were thrown about in such a reckless manner that a man took an awful chance in sitting in the first five rows. I am going to have the act tamed down considerably before the new show. C.D.F in three. 28 min.
