The Three Keatons

Including “Buster”.  Repeating the same old act which is well known on the circuit.  We have had some trouble here in regard to the 14 year child law, so had Mr Keaton go very easy in throwing “Buster” around the stage.  Act went pretty good in this spot.  16 minutes full stage.  Close in one 11 minutes.  The extra time in one was done in order to give us plenty of time to set the Sleede’s Pantomime Co.  Will cut this down to about 4 minutes.

Miss Edna Luby

Imitation of stage celebrities.  This young lady is rather good looking, but at the present time very amateurish in her imitations.  She does imitations of od Edna May very bad.  Marrie Dressler fair: see cohen bad; Anna Held, is really the best thing she does.  She closes her act singing poor Jogn which I suppose is an imitation of Vesta Victoria, as I have not seen her but assure you if Miss Victoria does not do this song better she would not be entitled to the salary she is getting.  17 minutes in one.

Joseph Hart & Carrie De Mar

Comedy sketch entitled ‘The Other Fellow.’ A rather tacky affair. There are some bright spots scattered through the act, and the audience today tried hard to laugh at every opportunity. I have seen many better sketches. I thought these people were well known in Cleveland, but I find they are not, and that few of the natives here have ever heard of them. They played the Opera House two years ago in ‘Foxy Grandpa,’ but they tell me that it was a frost. Both Hart and Miss De Mar are very clever, and there is no reason why they cannot do as well or better in vaudeville, than Fred Hallen and Mollie Fuller. If Hart & De Mar were known in this town, I could make money with the act CDF in three. 29 min.

Leone & Dale

Man and woman. Operatic sketch entitled ‘A Lesson in Opera.’ There are a hundred women in Cleveland who can sing all around this girl. Her opening song was so bad that I had a burning desire to run down cellar and hide. The act is not strong enough for this place. The man tries to carry it, but he has not sufficient help to do it alone, and this after-noon he failed miserably. Half the people in the house seemed to give a sigh of relief, when it was all over. Little courtesy applause. CDF in three. 20 min.

The Hazardous Globe

A metal sphere in which ‘Wizard’ Stone and Miss Irene Stone do a bicycle act on the lines of the old Cycle Whirl. The actual riding occupies about three min. The novelty in the act is Stone on a motor-cycle making complete circles of the globe from top to bottom. This of act 6 min. Full stage.

Sunny South

5 colored men and women.  This act without a doubt was the hit of the show.  They certainly have improved since the last time they were here, and I don’t know of any act of this kind, that we have ever played, that went as good as this one did to-day.  Full stage Special set. 14 minutes.  Received 6 curtain calls at close.

Vaugan Glaser & Co

One-act comedy by Mr. H. Beerbohm Tree, entitled, “We Shall Meet Again”.  Without a doubt this has been the best thing Mr Glaser has done.  It is a very pretty little comedy and no doubt will please audiences a good deal more than his other two sketches.  3 people.  19 minutes.  Interior.

Sophie Akounine

Violiniste.  This young lady is one of the Zingari Troupe, with which she makes quite good, but is far from being strong enough to play solos, especially in this spot.  Played two numbers very poorly.  8 minutes in one.

The Zingari Troupe

In an Operatic Novelty, entitled “Gypsy Life”.  This act to my mind is one of the best acts we have had in Cleveland this season.  It is not only staged very pretty but has the best aggregation of singers we have had.  Their solos, quartettes and duettes were very artistically rendered.  Received three curtain calls at close and had to sing an encore.  Special set.  15 minutes.  Close in one 4 minutes.

Mr. Vaughan Glasser and Co.

Offering “The Goal,” a one-act play by Henry Arthur Jones, presented for the first time on any stage.  This act to my mind reads much better than it plays.  While the story is a very pretty one, it is too talky and has very little action to it, nevertheless, it went quite well this afternoon and managed to get two curtain calls at finish.  Would not be a good sketch for Vaudeville in general.  Ran 38 minutes this afternoon but will probably be cut down to about 35. For the rest of the week.  Interior.
