Assisted by Monsieur Silvern. Palace in four. 13 minutes. This is a trapeze gymnastic novelty, the feature of which is the disrobing of Emerie which is done very cleverly from the full dress to tights in a manner which makes a big hit with the audience. Theact [sic] is absolutely refined and the finish is especially strong.
24 minutes. Interior parlor set. Presenting ‘Mag Haggerty’s Reception.’ Mr. Royan and Miss Richfield have always been extremely popular and their present comedy affords them ample opportunity for their good work. Monday afternoon the audience was in one continual roar from start to finish. The funny situation [sic] are original and get over the footlights in great shape. The lines of the dialogue are very funny.
In one. 9 min. Good looking woman, pleasing presence, tastily gowned. Voice only fair. Repertoire varied from the popular to classical. She tried the man in the box stunt, and old as it is, it certainly made a great hit Monday afternoon. She was recalled for one enchore [sic], lasting five minutes.
This act was commented on last week. It was held over for two weeks because of the fact that thousands of children could not get into the theatre last week. I am quite sure it will prove an excellent drawing card for the youngsters.
Center Door Fancy. Close in One. Time 13 minutes. The Countess is an unusually handsome woman of refined and charming appearance. This act is a singing feature exclusively. The Countess has a well trained voice, which she keeps under excellent control, and never once attempts to tear her lungs out by the roots, as many well dressed acts have done lately. Paulo sits in a box at first. He shows great enthusiasm for the Countess. Finally he leaps on the stage and they continue the act to-gether. Not a strong act, but one which took very well Monday afternoon.
Galletti, Four Monkeys, One Dog. Garden in 3. Time 18 Minutes. One of the best animal acts ever seen here. The Monkeys are well trained, and their musical specialty on the “organ chimes” is a knockout. The part in which the monkeys become barbers is also very funny. A great act for the children, but it proves amusing for the older people as well. A distinct feature on any bill.
Two Coons. Man and Woman. Time 16 minutes in One. Man in comedy make-up. A very good singing, talking and dancing act, which holds the attention of the audience. The Hebrew Impersonation introduced is a novelty and makes a hit. The Man is a good comedian, and makes a lot of funny falls all over the stage, which bring applause. The woman is excess baggage. One encore.
This act was booked from St. Louis and as they close on Sunday night there, it is impossible to get to Cleveland before 3 o’clock, so I had to put them on next to closing the show. They certainly made good in this spot and I assure you it a very good musical act. Center door fancy, 18 minutes close in one, 7 Min.
There are four men in the act, and not one of them is an actor. The sketch is not worth the money. IF I had to pay it again, I would much rather have Miss Gehrue in a singing dancing specialty which is about all that she can do. She sings a couple of music publishers songs, among them “Idaho,” which had been sung here three times a week for the last ten weeks, and every man and woman that sings it has probably received $25.00 a week from the publisher. I never want this act again at the price. Spec. Set. Full Stage. 25 min
Poseurs, Athletes and Champion Strong Men. This one of the best strong-men acts in the business. They are two of the most perfectly developed men that I have seen, and considering that our show was running late and that it is only about eighty-five in the shade here today, they held the audience until close of their act. A very good act of its kind and should make good anywhere. 8 min. Full stage. Carry special curtain for their posing.
