There is a skillfull intermingling of comedy and something that would be pathos if they chose to make it so.The action of the playlet runs at times pretty close to the serious, but is always headed off and twisted to the farcical side.
The wisdom of this is possibly open to question. The value of just a touch of the seriousness has been made apparent in numberless instances and "Taking Chances" offers unlimited opportunity for the use of just the right degree of sombre coloring.
