The Five Brown Brothers perform much like the Waterbury Brothers, with four working straight in military uniform and one affects blackface comedy. They work entirely on the brass instruments.
The cornet numbers have the big, resounding quality that burlesque (and vaudeville) audiences like and a quintet of saxophones at the finish in "one" was a tremendous applause-getter.
The blackface comedy is done in a quiet, effective manner. Their instruments are a decidedly agreeable combination and the comedian does enough without "hogging" the stage. The act is a sure-enough winner.
