39 minutes in one. Olio drapery. Eighteen people. Miss Ritchie is singing four numbers, assisted at the piano by Joseph M. Daly, a Boston composer. The first two did not get her much, but the third, “Has Anybody Here Seen Rover?” with whistles distributed among the audience, got over in good shape. While Daly is playing a piano solo, Miss Ritchie changes to a Red Cross Nurse, and sings “It’s Time for Every Boy to be a Soldier.” She is assisted by a quartette in khaki, and on the second chorus 12 United States Coast Artillerymen from Fort Banks march out upon the stage, down into the audience, and distribute enlistment blanks. The regulars make a fine appearance and they were riot. Two recruiting stations have been established one in each lobby; and we are advertising this as “Recruiting Week.” Colonel McCoy and Captain Pierson of the U.S.A. who have charge of the recruiting in Boston, occupied a box Monday night, and Captain Pierson made a speech, urging all young men to enlist. Thursday we will have Major Ashburn from Fort Banks; and we expect Major General Edwards, commanding the Boston District, will attend Wednesday evening.
