"My Wife Won't Let Me" featuring Wilson Franklyn, James E. Nichols, Ida Stanhope, and Anna Stoddard.
There is not a great deal about "My
Wife Won't Let Me" that will recommend
it to American audiences. The writer,
Mark Melford, is presumably an Englishman,
since the sketch is billed as "England's
Greatest Comedy Success/' and certainly
his methods are British, for his
humor has the finesse and sprightliness
of a 28th Street horse car and the spontaneity
of an eight-day clock. There is
a touch of the risque in the piece, English
risque, which, despite its clumsiness, is the
only thing that varies its utter dullness. The program carries the information
that Jesse L. Lasky is responsible
for the importation.
