All four men use comedy makeup. Robert J. Webb, first tenor, and Geoffrey O’Hara, baritone, work in blackface, the former as a “mammy,” and the first and second basses as stranded and hungry actors.
The voices are uniformly excellent. The first bass has a splendid vibrant quality and at the other end of the line a high, pure tenor is thrown into relief. All have a solo, "Sally in Our Alley," by Webb, being particularly well liked.
The talk is bright, which alone is an innovation in this sort of work that should recommend the organization to favorable attention.
If the decision of the initial audience is to be taken as a standard of judgment, the offering should be in demand.
